Title: Partner Provider program for ASSET's EDFT will accelerate test transition into manufacturing

Richardson, TX (June 17, 2002) – ASSET InterTech Inc., an international leader in boundary-scan (IEEE 1149.1/JTAG) test and in-system programming (ISP), has introduced a new third-party program for Ensure DFT (EDFT), ASSET's design-for-test services division. The EDFT Partner Provider program will team EDFT's expertise in test strategies and implementation techniques with third parties that have extensive experience in migrating boundary-scan tests from an electronics company's design group to a volume manufacturing environment. "Since its founding several years ago, EDFT has earned a stellar reputation for defining test strategies and then developing the tests to carry out those strategies for its clients," said Glenn Woppman, president of ASSET InterTech. "With the increasing interest in boundary-scan test, we have realized that it would be in the best interests of our customers if we involved high-quality third-party manufacturing test services companies to supplement EDFT's mission. The EDFT Partner Provider program is the result. The most important aspect of the program for us is that we must select partner providers of the highest caliber. Our Partner Providers must be capable of the same level of service and have the same commitment to the customer that EDFT has." The first member of the EDFT Partner Provider program is BreconRidge Manufacturing Solutions Corporation’s test engineering group, which formerly operated as 4Test Inc. BreconRidge will offer boundary-scan test services in Canada and based on ASSET's ScanWorks environment. "We have worked with EDFT from time to time on various projects and our experiences with the ScanWorks system and the consultants at EDFT have always been exceptionally good," said Cyril McKelvie, executive vice-president of manufacturing and engineering services for BreconRidge. "Our two companies share similar objectives when it comes to providing outstanding service and expertise to our clients. We view the chance to align our organization more closely with EDFT as an opportunity to capitalize on a real need in the marketplace." To qualify for the EDFT Partner Provider program, BreconRidge had to demonstrate a deep understanding of boundary-scan test principals in a manufacturing environment, including how boundary-scan tests can be quickly deployed on in-circuit test (ICT) systems, such as the 3070 from Agilent Technologies and others. In addition, companies that become an EDFT Partner Provider must have extensive knowledge of ASSET's ScanWorks system. "We called this a partnership program because it will fulfill the meaning of the word in the truest sense," said Joe Kadaras, director of EDFT Services for ASSET. "In a good partnership, both parties benefit from the relationship and that should be the case here. The test engineering group at BreconRidge is an outstanding service organization. They know boundary scan and they've implemented boundary scan test methods using ScanWorks in high-volume manufacturing." As more Partner Providers are identified and qualified in the future, the reach of the program will extend throughout North America, Europe and Asia. "Essentially, we are responding to the trend in the industry where boundary-scan test is continuing to spread from development to manufacturing groups inside electronics companies," Kadaras said. "We and our Partner Providers can certainly benefit from collaborating with each other, but the real intent is to serve the customer better and help them reap the benefits of boundary scan, including reduced test costs and fewer manufacturing defects." ASSET’s ScanWorks boundary-scan test and ISP environment is currently used by leading electronics companies such as Cisco, Lucent Technologies, Ericsson, Intel, Rockwell International, EMC and others. As a leader in boundary-scan technology, ASSET gives its customers access to a complete solution, extending beyond hardware and software to consulting, service, training and support. ASSET’s PC-based ScanWorks™ environment allows users to quickly and easily test semiconductors, circuit boards or entire systems during every phase of a product's life, including design, manufacturing/repair and field maintenance. The ISP capabilities of ScanWorks can be used to load software or data into programmable devices after they have already been connected to a printed circuit board. The ScanWorks product family works in conjunction with a standard of the International Electronics and Electrical Engineering (IEEE) society known as the IEEE 1149.1 (JTAG) boundary-scan test specification. ASSET's Ensure DFT Services provides high-level design-for-test engineering and development services to the electronics industry. ASSET InterTech is located outside of Dallas at 2201 North Central Expressway, Suite 105, Richardson, TX 75080.
